Planning a wedding is full of surprises and entails more than you may expect. Hiring a DJ or DJ company to help on your special day can alleviate some of the stress and will allow you to enjoy the night without worrying about what is happening next.

Many DJs offer different packages depending on what your needs entail- reception, ceremony, rehearsal dinner etc. but for the sake of this article let’s focus on the ceremony and reception.

Your wedding DJ will likely include:

  • A champagne toast
  • Announcement for speeches
  • Introduction of the bridal party
  • Opening of the dance floor
  • Special Dances
  • Final Song
  • Farewell statements

Beyond this checklist you can expect your DJ to play music during cocktail hour before the start of the reception as well as music throughout the dinner and the dance portion following. Many DJs will have a “must” play list with the couple’s favorite songs as well as a “do not” play list with songs that will not be played during the evening.

Great wedding DJs will prepare ahead of time after meeting with the couple to develop a playlist perfect for your special day! Remember it is a celebration for you and the music and entertainment can truly make a difference.
